These terms apply to locksmith services provided by Everest Locksmith (“we”, “us”) to the person requesting the work (“you”). They apply whether you book by phone, through the form on this website, or by asking a technician directly. Please read them before booking. If anything here does not suit your situation, tell us on the call and we will deal with it before work starts rather than afterwards.
1. Quotes and pricing
We quote a total price on the phone before a technician is dispatched. That figure includes the call-out and travel within our published service area. It is not a starting rate and nothing is added to it at the door.
Prices published on this website are real ranges for the work described. Where a price is given as a range, the final figure inside that range depends on the grade and condition of the hardware, whether a door or frame has already been forced, and the make and model year on automotive work. All of these are identified on the call, which is how we are able to commit to a total in advance.
If, once on site, the work turns out to require something that was not in the quote, we stop and requote. You decide whether to proceed. Nothing additional is carried out, and nothing additional is charged, without your agreement.
2. Proof of ownership or authority
Before opening any door, vehicle or container, we require photo identification plus one document connecting you to the property: a lease, a utility bill, a property tax notice or ownership papers. For vehicles we require the registration or an insurance slip. For commercial premises and strata common property we require written authorisation from an owner, director, facilities manager, the strata corporation or its management company.
We reserve the right to refuse or stop work where ownership or authority cannot be established to our reasonable satisfaction. This applies without exception and regardless of any deposit or call-out already paid. It is the check that protects every owner, including you.
3. How we carry out the work
Standard cylinders are picked or bypassed rather than drilled wherever the lock allows, so that the lock and the door are left intact. Drilling is used only where a cylinder has already failed internally or where no non-destructive method is available, and only after the cost of replacement has been quoted to you and agreed.
Where a door, frame or strike is already damaged, we will say so before starting and quote any repair separately. We do not guarantee that pre-existing damage can be made good.
4. Payment
Payment is due on completion unless credit terms have been agreed in advance in writing. We accept card payment on a portable terminal on site. An itemised receipt showing the work carried out, any parts supplied and the applicable warranty is issued for every job. Commercial, strata and property-management accounts can be invoiced where arranged beforehand.
5. Warranty
Parts supplied and labour carried out by us are warranted for twelve months from the date of the visit. If a cylinder binds, a strike sticks, a key stops turning cleanly or hardware we fitted fails within that period, contact us and we will return and correct it at no charge.
The warranty does not cover: hardware we did not supply or fit; damage caused by forced entry, vandalism, accident or attempted repair by others; normal wear on keys; batteries in electronic hardware; or doors and frames that move seasonally where we advised at the time that adjustment would be needed.
6. Access, cancellation and wasted visits
If you need to cancel, please call as early as you can. There is no charge for a cancellation made before a technician has been dispatched.
Where a technician attends at the agreed time and cannot carry out the work because nobody is present, access to the building cannot be arranged, the vehicle is not where it was said to be, or identification cannot be produced, a call-out charge may apply for the attendance.
7. Strata and common property
Suite and unit doors are dealt with on the instruction of the owner or occupier. Lobbies, mailrooms, parkade gates, amenity rooms, utility cupboards and any other common property under the Strata Property Act are dealt with only on written authorisation from the strata corporation or its management company. We will ask for that authorisation every time, including where an individual owner is present and asking us to proceed.
8. Automotive work
Keys and fobs are cut and programmed at your vehicle. Where every key has been lost, a key is originated from the vehicle identification number and the lost keys are erased from the immobiliser. Proof of ownership is required in every case without exception.
Some vehicles require the car to be moved above ground for programming equipment to reach manufacturer systems. Where an underground parkade prevents this, we will tell you on site and, if the vehicle cannot be moved, the visit may need to be rescheduled.
9. Liability
We carry liability insurance and WorkSafeBC coverage, and a certificate of insurance is available on request. We are responsible for loss or damage caused by our own negligence in carrying out the work.
We are not responsible for pre-existing faults or damage; for the condition of hardware we did not supply; for consequential losses such as lost income, missed appointments or alternative accommodation; or for damage arising where you instructed us to proceed after being advised of a risk. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act.
10. Licensing
Everest Locksmith holds a security worker licence under the Security Services Act, number #B7554. Technicians carry identification and their licence card on every call and will produce both on request. You can verify our licence with the province at any time โ see our licence verification page for how.
11. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, call us on (604) 649-7255 or email dispatch@everestlocksmith.ca and describe the problem. We would far rather hear about it directly and put it right than read about it later. If a complaint concerns our conduct as a licensed security business, it can also be raised with the Security Programs Division.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published on this page on the date your work is booked. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date below.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable in that province. Any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.
